BRITISH POKER PRO WINS WORLD SERIES OF POKER EUROPE 2010
After five days of play, and after beating a field of 345 opponents, English poker professional James Bord emerged victorious at The Casino at The Empire in the early hours of this morning, winning the Main Event of the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE). Having bought into the event for £10,350, James was rewarded with a first prize of £830,401 and a much-coveted gold and diamond WSOPE bracelet. He is the first ever British player to win the event (£10,350 Championship No-Limit Hold'em) which began on Thursday 23rd September, and finished around 1am on Wednesday 29th September.
The event attracted some of the biggest names in the world of poker to Leicester Square, including previous Main Event Champions Barry Shulman and John Juanda, as well as Annette Obrestad, the Norwegian phenomenon who won the first ever WSOPE Main Event at the tender age of 18 in 2007.

The final table of the Main Event (featuring the last nine remaining players) took a little over 13 hours to complete, and saw seven of the competitors walk away with over £100,000 in prize money. The second place finisher was Italian pro, Fabrizio Baldassari, who won £513,049.
Ultimate champion James Bord brought a rowdy group of supporters with him from North London; keeping players and spectators entertained with their chants and shouts of glee as James crept closer to his victory.
The Casino at The Empire, Leicester Square, was the stunning setting for the five-event series, playing host to some of the biggest names in the game, as well as celebrity players such as television's Michael Greco and legendary footballer Teddy Sheringham.
